If you were tuned in watching the world series last night, there is a good chance your brain was melted by the introduction ad to the new Hummer EV. In the words of Phil Brook, GMC’s vice-president of marketing, “In terms of audience reach, we anticipate this will be one of the brand’s most ambitious stand-alone campaigns ever.” Well Phil, you weren’t lying buddy.
It begins with a LeBron James voiceover that then plunges into what feels like an action-packed, Sci-Fi, inspirational, electric off-road orgasm. Dubbed a ‘super-truck’ by GMC, the electric Hummer’s comes with 1000 horsepower, 11,500 lb of torque, and a zero to 60 time of 3.0 seconds. Yes, an electric Hummer, we never thought we would say those two words together, and we’re loving it. According to GMC, the vehicle can power up to nearly 160 kilometers of range in 10 minutes of DC charging. With a full-charge range, the estimates are 560-plus kilometers.
An onslaught of futuristic capabilities come wired into the truck’s system, like the crabwalk, that will have you sidestepping really anything that stands in your way. Above the cockpit is an Infinity Roof with removable transparent panels, and along the cabin is a 13.4-inch infotainment screen, and a 12.3-inch information center display, to further the feeling that it was designed for any planet in the galaxy.
Enough stalling, hit play and take a ride in what is the future of electric cars, sorry, electric Supertrucks. Between Jeep, the new Ford Bronco, and now the Hummer EV, the forecast looks incredibly bright for all adventure vehicle drivers.
