Mark Twain said it best in 1883: “She is always a novelty; for she is never the Chicago you saw when you passed through the last time.” And that sentiment has always held true. Today, Chicago is undergoing a new renaissance of art, passion, and youthfulness. For the CYTIES traveler who visits the modern-day Chicago, there’s no better place to explore Chi-town than from Ace Hotel Chicago.

Some rooms have turntables, others have Martin Guitars, and all have Bluetooth radio for those moments when you need some jams to go with the skyline views.

Ace makes its home in a concrete and glass building that was once a cheesemaking company in West Loop, one of Chicago’s innovative and happening neighborhoods — just ask their neighbor Google. The rooms are practical and stylish with a blue color scheme, simple blonde furniture, and silver steel bed frames. The cozy beds invite travelers to relax into organic cotton sheets, turn on the flat-screen TV, and enjoy a drink from the minibar while surfing their phone with free Wi-Fi. Some rooms have turntables, others have Martin Guitars, and all have Bluetooth radio for those moments when you need some jams to go with the skyline views.

The lobby is at the center of activity at Ace Hotel Chicago. It’s clean, sleek, and stylish and decorated in industrial materials and local art. City Mouse Lounge, located in the lobby, offers seasonal small plates and tasty vices. Before enjoying the everyday brunch and Stumptown Coffee at City Mouse, you might want to get in a workout in the hotel’s gym which includes treadmills, ellipticals, a punching bag, and a cool mural by Boot Boyz, a young graphic design team doing big things for male fashion. In the evenings, you’ll want to make your way up to the rooftop bar and lounge, Waydown. Named after a song by John Prine, this bar has stunning views of the Chicago skyline, strong drinks, bar snacks, and tunes from live performers.

When life, art, and music changes in Chicago, there will be Ace Hotel Chicago, changing along with the times, but always keeping the best things – like a top-notch stay – the same.
