Rum With A Side of Street Cred

Imagine if you could create an Avengers style squad of the best old rum salts in the world. We’re talking the ones that put Tiki back on the map, the hard knocks who would never raise an eyebrow when throwing back a bottle like Blackbeard himself. Well, that’s exactly the task Alexandre Gabriel set out to achieve when seeking a misfit crew to assist in the creation of Plantation O.F.T.D. Together, a crew of the seven well known rum roughnecks — who’s faces you’ll find on the bottle itself — came up with a blend of Guyana, Jamaica and Barbados rums, bottled at 69 proof degrees.

O.F.T.D. Rum

O.F.T.D. officially stands for Old Fashioned Traditional Dark, but rumor is it also stands for something else that was shouted when the spirit was first tasted — we’ll let you decide what that was. The rum genius brains involved alongside Alexandre Gabriel are cocktail historian David Wondrich, Jeff Berry of Latitude 29, Martin Cate of  Smuggler’s Cove, Paul McFadyen of Trailer Happiness in London, Paul McGee of Chicago’s Lost Lake (see you soon Paul), and Scotty Schuder of Dirty Dick in Paris (see you soon Scotty).

According to plantationrum.com, the taste profile is as follows:

Color : Rich red mahogany
Nose : Intense and very precise notes of coffee, orange, plum, jam and truffles.
Palate : It bursts with caramel cream, chocolate and vanilla notes. It continues on with cinnamon, raisins, nutmeg, oak and molasses with smoky accents.
Result : Long and lingering with dark chocolate, clove and caramel.

Believe us, this stuff will put some hair on your chest.
