From all angles, it appears to be another surf film but Live to Sea is much more and cuts back to more of movement than a visual. The short follows renowned surfer Freddie Meadows as he scours the rocky coasts of Sweden in search of nothing less than the best waves and paddling into one of surfing’s last frontiers.
Set in the Scandanavian waters, Live to Sea tells the story of every surfer and the connections they’ve found with the sea. It’s not about who is the best, it’s about the ride Meadows and surfers around the world experience from the moment they paddle out into the break. And while even couch surfers can get a feel for the awesomeness of the waves on the North Shore or at Mavericks, the cold, icy waves of Sweden represent the culture, and inherent connection surfers feel to the waters.
Live to Sea is more than a film, described as a saga, meant to tell the story(s) of wave riders from the furthest reaches of our watery planet. And from the journey of Freddie Meadows, you too can join the movement.
