Every now and then, you come across a vehicle that leaves you in awe. Just by the sight of it, you can feel the open roads roaring breeze. That is what this Porsche Spyder does, it leaves you in half disbelief that the car is actually real, allowing you to dream of what it would feel like to grab the wheel and hit the gas. The Porsche 550 Spyder offered by Auxietre & Schmidt is a chassis 550 – 0050, and is one of only 97 examples. The car was completed in June 1955 and delivered brand spanking new to the USA with an updated body design. By the late 80’s it was immaculately restored by Japanese client Mr. Yoshida, every single piece of the car was accounted for with hundreds of documented photos and letters forming a restoration dossier.

When the early 90’s hit, the vehicle was purchased and sold between french based dealer Benoit Couturier, then to famous Porsche collector and enthusiast Claude Picasso, son of Pablo Picasso, to classic car enthusiast and collector Jean Guittar who then sold it to famous french singer Florent Pagny. The 550 – 0050 has seen some things, it’s been around and has some stories written in the tire tread. Here it is today, for the next adventure and car enthusiast, or simply just for wandering eyes to lock in and spark the imagination of what it would feel like to be in the driver’s seat on a windy leaf-covered road in Vermont. Dare to dream, right?
