Naturally, the Opera House, the Outback, and Fosters come to mind when you think of Australia, but now after a long day(s) adventuring the Ace Hotel has a Sydney location to call home.

Nestled in the Surrey Hills neighborhood, Ace has not come to be an outsider but to acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the Traditional Custodians of this land. Additionally, this hotel was built into the Tyne House brick factory, on the site of Australia’s first pottery kiln elevating the artistic persona that echoes throughout the hotel’s design.

The first of the Ace Hotels to be built in the southern hemisphere, this hotel boasts a comfortable 257 rooms sparsed throughout an 18-story building. The interior design comes from the local and famed Flack Studio which made extra efforts to include and highlight the heritage of the original inhabitants of the lands. And nearly 100% of the furniture and lighting has been custom-designed by the Flack Studio.

Undoubtedly the Ace portfolio has come to be known for exquisite attention to detail and an unparalleled sense of style and design from the lobby and an into each room. Each location has something unique to offer and Sydney has focussed on aural pleasure. Many of the 257 rooms have been outfitted with Rega turntables and record collections overseen by the Melbourne-based label Efficient Space.

Beyond the extraordinary designs and offerings of this latest Ace Hotel, the food, culture, and adventures that surround the hotel are next level. Even within the Ace, the restaurants are led by world-famous chefs experimenting with Australia’s local foods. And outside the lobby doors, the sights and nightlife beckon you to #hittheconcrete.

And while a quick trip over to Sydney may seem a bit much, once you’ve stayed at any of the Ace Hotels around North America or even in Kyoto, a flight and stay Down Under will quickly climb to the top of your travel list.
