We have all been searching for reasons to be excited about steadfast travel again. Leave it to American Express to set the new standard, making all airport visits to New York City accompanied by access to an exclusive speakeasy, found right inside JFK.

Yes, you will need certain AMEX credentials to enter the oasis, but if you don’t have them for travel perks already, what are you waiting for? The prohibition-era bar is named after the company’s founding year, 1850, and is located inside the largest Centurion Lounge and the first with two guest floors, sprawling more than 15,000 square feet.

Where can you find it? Head to terminal 4 and access the new lounge, 1850 Bar can be found behind an alluring copper-paneled wall inside. Upon entering, you’ll discover floor to ceiling windows and sleek design elements that give a nod to NYC’s cultural landmarks. With modern takes on an array of classic cocktails, a pre-flight Negroni has never looked so good—this is what CYTIES is all about. While you’re at it, forget the peanuts and dine on a menu cultivated from James Beard Award nominated chef and New Yorker, Ignacio Mattos.

Also found within the innovative lounge will be an Equinox Body Lab for app-driven meditations and stretching, so you can board your plane feeling 100% for the journey ahead. 1850 and the new two-story Centurion will have you scheduling layovers and arriving at the airport three hours early just to take part. As much as we all miss airports these days, maybe speakeasies like 1850 are the future of many terminals, and in that case, it’s worth the wait.
