It’s a constant search, an addicting quest. Some only tell stories about it, others have actually claimed they have experienced it, and the mere out-of-body encounter is all they can think about. Does it really exist? Or is it just a manufactured moment that is lost in myths and fabled tales? Can it be tracked? Is it based on geographic harmony? Or is it just the right time at the right place? Where is, and how does one find… the perfect wave?

A perfect wave can be relatable to many things in life. Some would say we spend too much time waiting for it to happen or believe that once we get one, something will unlock inside, provoking a higher understanding. This month’s Catalog is dedicated to a reverse thought on this topic. Maybe the perfect wave isn’t the one you ever foresaw coming, and it never is what you expected. What if it’s all of them combined? We believe the perfect wave is the ongoing crusade to find one.

The great Kobe Bryant once said, “It’s not the destination. It’s the journey.” Though Mamba wasn’t an avid surfer, he was very intrigued to learn how to ride waves and also inspired others in their own quest.
