MAISON DE LA LUZ

A cabinet of curiosity with a life of its own, Maison de la Luz is a 67-room luxury concept by Ace Atelier in the heart of New Orleans. Unlike its world-famous sister hotels, this French/Spanish-inspired hybrid combines stylish grandeur and idiosyncratic edge for the perfect setting to tune in or tune out.

Situated between former law offices and neighborhood favorites such as Seaworthy in the Central Business District, is what appears from the outside to be a stunning château built over a century ago. Once inside, however, as you make your way past the double staircases, you tend to feel as though you’ve taken a turn down the rabbit hole into a different dimension of splendid wonder. With commissioned artworks, blended relics of peculiar origin, and trappings of forgotten luxury, an air of southern charm is matched with absurdity at its very best. Classic art deco surrounds accents like gilded serpents as shower handles and bright velvet settees give off hints of rock n roll cool in this safe haven for the creatively inclined.

All 67 guest rooms are masterfully decorated and cozy as can be, and with bespoke concierge service, star treatment comes with the room key. The choice between two variations of standard rooms, as well as four different types of suites to pick from, can help you to better personalize your stay, whether you plan to spend your days on the property wrapped in a bathrobe in your room, or roaming the streets of one of the most magnificent cities in the world. Although there isn’t an all-day restaurant on the property, the Breakfast Room offers both a refined buffet with free coffee and pastries available to guests, as well as a delightful a la carte breakfast. The blue crab and gruyere omelet (with the option to add on a serving of caviar) is bound to have your heart beating out of your chest like in an old cartoon. We lovingly suggest pairing it with a Bloody Mary before you hit the cobblestone. Breakfast of champions, who?

As the sun starts to set, The Living Room on the other hand is an excellent setting to enjoy a snack and a glass of wine before a night out. You are welcome to join them nightly for charcuterie and a bottle of bubbly, as well as a tasteful selection of craft cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, another grand facet of Maison de la Luz is Bar Marilou, a comfortable, yet surreal atmosphere melted around an electric air of hospitality and dressed to the nines in several stylish eras. Along with a library of specialized spirits, signature cocktails, and french-inspired bites at your disposal, there is even a small room through a hidden revolving door that acts as a speakeasy exclusive to hotel guests only. Here comes that star treatment again.

On top of being in a prime location, with the French Quarter, less than a mile away and all the culture you can absorb within a fifteen-block radius, all it takes is just a quick traipse across the street and you’re also able to enjoy the amenities at The Ace as well. That includes the pool, fitness center, restaurants, you name it. It’s needless to say that there are dozens of options as to where to rest your head in NOLA, but if you wish to do it in style, you know where to go.
