People escape to hotels for all sorts of reasons – to relax, to getaway, to rejuvenate. But what if your hotel did more than just offer you a place to sleep or to eat; what if it restored something in you that was missing?
At The Restoration Hotel in Charleston they renovated five historic buildings to make up their property bringing life, history, design, and the right kind of Southern hospitality into one space, a space where travelers find their own restoration.
For travelers broken down or stressed, The Restoration Hotel’s design creates a calming mood with wooden floors, exposed brick walls, and stylish gray and white furniture. It’s attractive and yet made to be insightful and thought-provoking with a gallery of art in the Culture Library from the hotel’s Artist in Residence.
Travelers can relax into each amenity and return to some personal betterment, mentally and physically, than before they arrived.
And who couldn’t be restored with art, a book, and a drink? The Culture Library offers an extensive and eclectic selection of reading materials of which travelers can dive into after treating themselves to a spirit from the Honor Bar, a truly Southern tradition.
Then there is the Amethyst Spa, named after the mineral that brings peace, calmness, and positive energy to those who wear it. It kneads relaxation back into you through massage and other treatments. From there, travelers can relax at the Indigo Pool and enjoy city views and small bites and drinks. Or perhaps restoration comes with quiet spots like on The Restorations’ rooftop terrace or charming courtyard.
For some, restoration comes with the balancing of the body. Maybe it takes a workout at Ecofitness, a free gym for guests to use just a short walk from the hotel. Or maybe it arrives through sustenance from the Watch Rooftop Kitchen and Spirits, the hotels farm-to-table restaurant serving warm Southern favorites like shrimp and grits. Throughout the day, guests can take advantage of The Rise Coffee Bar which satisfies cravings with coffee and tea. And if you prefer not to leave your room, the hotel can deliver a morning meal of juice and baked goods at the time of your request.
We can’t forget the rooms themselves. The Restoration outfits them with a Nosh Box, curated snack products that included everything from chocolates to turkey jerky. King beds, free Wi-Fi, smart TVs, and in some rooms, kitchenettes or personal iPads, can all be made available to you. Travelers can relax into each amenity and return to some personal betterment, mentally and physically, than before they arrived.
