Started in 1991 by Roger O’Donnell, keyboardist for British band The Cure, Uncle Otis is the godfather of menswear in Toronto. The shop can trace its roots back to popular UK and US streetwear brands but has continued to evolve over the past decade under the current ownership of Donnell Enns and the keen eye of manager Martin James. Uncle Otis is now a provider of goods with more of a classic style, ranging from heritage brands to lesser-known labels that are creating modern takes on the classic forms while still maintaining the highest of quality. Brands are represented from across the globe including Canada, Japan, US, UK, and Scandinavia.

This isn’t fast-fashion. This is heritage and quality that will remain relevant beyond next season and will endure the constantly changing fads of fashion.

Uncle Otis sets itself apart from the moment you step inside. The space is a blend of concrete, steel, and wood decor with a casual vibe set by the music pulsing through the room. It is a modern design with a warm inviting feel that perfectly compliments what Uncle Otis calls the pursuit of personal style. The attentive staff is well versed in everything that’s on display; let them be your guide. You won’t be led toward anything that doesn’t fit your tastes and you’ll most definitely be introduced to something that will become a staple of your wardrobe for years to come.

The selection of products is unmatched and some of the most expertly curated you will find anywhere. At any time you may discover collaborations with some of the world’s most respected brands. In the past Uncle Otis has offered their own unique interpretation on pieces from Canada Goose, Maharishi, Universal Works, Oliver Spencer, Tanner Goods, and others; offering those items in limited editions. In addition to the collaborations, you’ll find offerings from over 30 other purveyors that include seasonal garments, bags, accessories, and personal care products. Some selections include duffles and briefcases from Filson, jackets from Norse Projects, chinos from Wings + Horns, and footwear from Grenson.

Uncle Otis is always current but never trendy, offering timeless pieces to build your personal style around. This isn’t fast-fashion. This is heritage and quality that will remain relevant beyond next season and will endure the constantly changing fads of fashion. For nearly three decades Uncle Otis has endeavored to provide men in the pursuit of their personal style with the tools to feel their best, look their finest, and express themselves in a unique way. They are succeeding.
