OUR ARTICLE
BY: Alex Temblador Contributing writerThe age-old question: Can you have your cake and eat it, too? When it comes to love, sorry brother, that’s not always the case. But for hotels – you better god damn believe it.
Which brings us to Ace Hotel New York. They have everything the modern traveler needs in a hotel, making them the perfect place to stay in the Big Cake… I mean, Apple.
Location?
It’s just an eight-minute walk to Madison Square Garden (basketball game anyone?) and five minutes to the Empire State building. A dive bar in the East Village or dinner in Greenwich is no problem. They’re just 30-minute walks tops or a short subway ride away.
Like we said, location – check.
Rooms?
They cover it all, whether you’re looking to bunk with your best friend in a budget private room with a private bathroom and minibar or in a loft suite complete with a vintage-inspired sitting area, Smeg refrigerator, acoustic Martin guitar, turntable, and a bathroom with a claw foot tub and separate shower. They also have rooms that range in the middle, like private spaces with full, king, or queen beds. All are pet-friendly and outfitted with hypoallergenic mattresses and Rudy’s Hair and Body Products (because you got to look fresh).
Once again… rooms – check.
Food?
New York City can wear any man out – the bars, clubs, shopping, events, meetings, and the walking between it all. It’s too easy to stay fueled at Ace Hotel New York. Don’t worry about moving out of bed in the morning or needing a late-night snack – 24/7 room service at this Ace property is your friend.
The Breslin Bar & Dining Room has a meat-centric menu for the modern omnivore man in a spot that’s a mix between industrial and vintage, while The John Dory is our favorite seafood spot on-site with large windows for people-watching as you slurp down oysters. But it doesn’t end there, as the on-site No. 7 has easy-to-grab submarine sandwiches for hustlers on the go. One more note, they have Stumptown Coffee Roasters. Enough said.
Food – check, check, check.
Vibe?
Like men, places have personalities, and Ace Hotel New York is a chill amigo who appreciates art, history, and music. The lobby is filled with original mosaic tile floor and a stained-glass ceiling, which rivals quirky decorative pieces like a vintage American flag, a graffiti sticker mural wall, and table tops made from telescope lenses. The art gallery, live music at times, lobby bar, and vintage furniture draws folks from within and off the street who are looking for a chill place to use free Wi-Fi, work, play, or stay for a while.
Ace Hotel New York – it checks everything off the modern man’s list for an exceptional hotel stay. Enjoy the proverbial cake that is the Ace Hotel New York. It’s delicious.
