As men, we are always climbing to the top of hills in the hopes of obtaining our goals, so that one day, we can stand upon the tallest, most fortified hill yet, surveying the kingdom we have created. There’s one hotel in New York City, Arlo NoMad, that exemplifies this idea, for in German, “Arlo” means “a man on top of a fortified hill.” This hotel understands that NoMads need a base from which to climb toward our goals, and they’re providing a base that’s unlike any other.

There may not be a more perfect place to surmount your personal mountains than at Arlo NoMad in New York City’s Midtown area, just a short walk from the Empire State Building. The boutique hotel provides a selection of guest rooms that are small but mighty in their offerings. The design is masculine with walnut furnishings, cozy beddings, and large windows or terraces for city views. They feature 42-inch LED TVs, Bluetooth radios, mini-fridges, and glass rain showers. In New York, where space is limited, the Arlo NoMad has thoughtfully worked to maximize space with under-bed storage and a custom open pegboard closet.

Then when you’re spent from a day of grinding or hitting the NYC pavement, have a drink at The Heights, the hotel’s 31st-floor rooftop bar and watch as the sunsets against the city skyline.

When you’re climbing to new heights, you need help and the best way to do that is network, engage, and observe, and there’s plenty of ways to do that at Arlo NoMad. Grab a coffee or snack at the Bodega, the on-site 24-hour pantry, and then enjoy it in the communal spaces while you click away on your laptop or engage in a casual business meeting. When your stomach growls for something more substantial, check out MASSONI, the on-site restaurant with an “Italianish” menu, followed by a drink at BARlo, a den-like bar slinging inventive, sexy, NYC-themed cocktails like the Prospect Heights and Forest Hills.

Don’t forget to explore the Big Apple, a place where many men conquered and went on to achieve greatness. Take a free Arlo bike around town or grab a quick workout at Tone House, an athletic-based group fitness studio that offers free classes to hotel guests just a block away.

Then when you’re spent from a day of grinding or hitting the NYC pavement, have a drink at The Heights, the hotel’s 31st-floor rooftop bar and watch as the sunsets against the city skyline. As you stand on the rooftop patio at Arlo Nomad and you watch the yellows and reds of the sunset change to purples and blues against the backdrop of the Empire State Building, you’ll be reminded of the idea of “Arlo” and how the climb to the top of your hill is all worth it when you’re in the right place.
