Hubris, or excessive pride and confidence, has led to the downfall of great men, businesses, and even gods. When people overestimate their own capability to produce something the world has never seen, they sometimes fall, blinded by their inability to see that sometimes just being “good” can make you great.

That’s why Good Coffee of Portland, Oregon, is a massive success.

One-hundred percent of Good Coffee is roasted in-house, allowing these caffeine enthusiasts to provide locals with a damn fine cup, every single day.

Founded by two brothers, they set out with the intent to make a good cup of joe and ended up with four coffee bars, a roastery, and a fan base that makes Good Coffee some of the absolute best coffee in PDX.

One-hundred percent of Good Coffee is roasted in-house, allowing these caffeine enthusiasts to provide locals with a damn fine cup, every single day, and tourists too, at their shop in Portland’s Woodlark Hotel. While coffee, lattes, and espresso are available, Good Coffee experiments with flavor and coffee style by providing three different types of their unique bottled coffee drinks like a cold brew, iced latte, and a seasonal latte.

Roasted beans aren’t the only good thing about Good Coffee. Their spaces are attractive with a décor that’s a mix of chic and woodsman Pacific Northwest, complete with ceramic mugs, marble countertops, and a primarily white aesthetic brightened by green plants and wooden elements. Everything from the cozy rugs to the attractive lamps and sofas makes you want to kick back with a cup of Good Coffee and a tasty treat or sandwich that they sell in house.

Where some brands are obsessed with the newest coffee trend, branded items, and outrageous shop designs, the guys at Good Coffee have it dialed in. Their goal is simple, to make every cup, a good cup, and it’s that reason alone that makes their coffee better than good.
