BY: Alex Temblador Contributing writerWe all have an arsenal of weapons at our disposal. For some, it’s the gift of gab, for others it’s our technological or creative abilities. Some men are good with their mitts, the strength of a lion, others are born leaders — trailblazers. Whatever weapons you stock in your armory, the tool is always sharpest when you need it.
Armoury D.E. hits the bullseye with hearty food and specialized drinks into the early morning
That’s the same of Armoury D.E., a small bar in Dallas, Texas. They’ve stocked up their saloon with booze and grub to satisfy the taste buds of any nomad traveler or city slicker. Set in Deep Ellum, Dallas’ artsy bar neighborhood, Armoury D.E. is a low-lit bar with brick exposed walls and a patio that’s occasionally filled with live bands, dogs, and patrons who like a traditional drink in a new way.
Enter below the red “A” into this establishment and be met with a rustic-style space with bullet casings as tap handles and an array of liquor on the custom-built shelf behind the bar.
There are about 12 draft beer taps, 60 bottles, and 12 wine options. They tend to offer traditional drinks with a local twist all at an affordable price. Many of their drinks have weapons or gun references especially to the Dallas area like Deerhunter (Texans love to hunt), Bonnie & Clyde, (the infamous duo from D-Town), and Ruby’s Revolver (Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald, JFK’s assassinator, in Dallas).
If the drinks don’t entice you, the food will. Their dishes have Hungarian influences and are quick to fill you up like Mama’s Guyla’s, a beef stew, or Rantott Sajt, Hungarian white cheese, or Fasirt, Hungarian meatballs.
And to top it all off – their full menu is available until 2 a.m. While we love a good Whataburger run after the bars close, Armoury D.E. hits the bullseye with hearty food and specialized drinks into the early morning – so why go anywhere else?

Wayward Coffee Co was started by two buddies (Noah Irby & Trevin Willison) in a 1975 VW Bus parked curbsided in the Bishop Arts District. The then “shop” was just a few blocks from the relatively newly opened space on Dallas St. And beyond the slew of high fives this duo deserves for opening their doors in the midst of a pandemic, Wayward was set on fostering culture, creating community, and cultivating quality.
