BY: Ryan Kirk Contributing writerTo be polite and not too presumptuous, we suggest you start with an Erick Castro special, “Ocean side” – London Dry Gin, Fresh Lime, Mint, Sea salt & Celery Bitters. In the early 1900s, before the large drug retail stores took over the pharmacy market, you would take your aches and pains to your local drug store. An older man, whose first name was probably on the sign out front, would sell you pills and remedies in old apothecary jars. To pay homage to these once so crucial staples of your neighborhood streets, Polite Provisions provides you with a vintage drug store feel — and medicine in the form of cocktails that’s sure to fulfill your deepest of cravings.
Bar owner and cocktail guru Erick Castro created the ever-changing drink list to include ingredients that were used in old medicines.
From the Pharmacy Rx sign out front to the lamp posts inside, Polite is decorated to turn back the clock. A time of newspaper boys and milk men, a time of Lucky Strike Cigarettes and record players. A time where there was nothing that a good conversation and a stiff drink couldn’t fix. If you’re searching for a way to get back to the good old days, take a look at the “Blast from the Past” section of the drink menu, where you’ll find yourself sipping on a Singapore Sling – Aviation American Gin, lemon, Benedictine, Cherry Heering, and bitters.
Bar owner and cocktail guru Erick Castro created the ever-changing drink list to include ingredients that were used in old medicines. This is why several cocktails are served with house-made bitters, soda pop, tinctures, and syrups. With 46 different bar taps, they also have wine and craft beer on draft. With so many different options, you can rest assure knowing that Polite Provisions has the prescription for all of your ever so healthy, desired, mouth-watering conditions.
