In the land of sun, surf and tacos, don’t expect to find your next pair of boardshorts at this place. Bradley Mountain is handcrafting leather and canvas goods with the intent to live adventurously — whether that be as an urban explorer or weathered fur trader.

Don’t be mistaken, you won’t find this mountain amongst the Rockies, Himalayas or Alps. It’s more of a way of life than a topographical feature. Up against The 5, in San Diego’s diverse East Village, you’ll find busy hands working tendered leather through opened garage doors and loading docks, this is Bradley Mountain.

The space is wafting with the aroma of leather, waxed canvas, and more leather.

Up the ramp and through the door, prepare to enter into a world found in the era of the Louisiana Purchase. Lewis and Clark would be right at home as a showroom is heightened by a canoe hanging from the rafters, and a canvas tent housing an assortment of Bradley Mountain’s packs and accessories. Stepping outside from the covering lies an adventure story through leather and canvas. Tool rolls, apparel, and their famed pack The Wilder push forward to bring you the best gear (in function, durability, and aesthetic) for your adventures. They also have an array of pocket knives and exploration logs alongside beard treatments and cast-iron skillets scattered around the makeshift basecamp general store.

As all journeys should be about the unexpected, the mercantile is smack dab in the middle of production. Within an arm’s reach of the showroom, an assembly line of sewing machines rumble adjacent to an industrial block table of meticulous scissor snipping. The space is wafting with the aroma of leather, waxed canvas, and more leather. And it’s not just the illustrious bags moving through production. A collaboration with Faribault Woolen Mill Co. to craft the Cabin Jacket will have your compass in hand, mapping out the next expedition.

Bradley Mountain started as an idea and recognition of the necessity for something better. From a garage in Ocean Beach to their multi-use warehouse, they now assert themselves as craftsman of quality American made and sourced goods in a city oriented towards the surf. Their goal is to “inspire a fresh perspective on modern adventure, beyond just traveling and camping, and into our daily lives.” It’s so much more than a retail shop, a warehouse or a factory — it’s a lifestyle and mindset. Bradley Mountain is derived from exploration and a team of like-minded individuals whose passion is seen in their work. They believe in their story — they live their story.
