BY: Alex Temblador Contributing writerMeet Beau. Holding court in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the trend-setting neighborhood in NYC’s diverse urban landscape. A hub where friends can kick it over drinks and grub in a space that gains style with every footstep through the front door. A cafe by day, and cocktail bar by night, it’s like the bar wears a disguise similar to the Dark Knight himself—Bruce.
This multi-faceted hub is a specialty café during the day that serves caffeine-driven patrons coffee and pastries in a simple, rustic space with curvaceous architectural forms. Like a magnet beating between Williamsburg’s buildings, it attracts folks in with a bright yellow doorway and neon sign.
Let’s leave Gotham’s crime-stopping to Batman, but when you’re ready for a day of coffee and a night of bespoke vices in Brooklyn, look for the fluorescent yellow door, and meet Beau.
While Bruce Wayne has a bat suit, Beau’s best secret is also kept for the dark of the night. Visit in the evening and watch as people walk through a curved portico to the other side, a hidden and elegant cocktail bar.
The mostly-white sleek designed bar has a quartzite drinking counter. The menu is made up of wine and cocktails, some of which are classics like Palomas and Boulevardiers, and others that are more creative with names like “(and her name was) Cassandra” and “Tonka Truck,” a fluorescent yellow cocktail in a jelly jar.
They don’t stop there. The small plates like marinated olives, udon, roasted skirt steak, deviled eggs, and scallop corn fritters, are served until 11 p.m. It’s the perfect treat for the Friday night suckers who forgot all about dinner. Your hangover will thank Beau in the morning for putting something in the belly. After 11, back to that jelly jar.
There is something truly mysterious about those who live one way in the day, and another at night. Let’s leave Gotham’s crime-stopping to Batman, but when you’re ready for a day of coffee and a night of bespoke vices in Brooklyn, look for the fluorescent yellow door, and meet Beau.
