The mellifluously named Sweet Polly is a chic yet cozy cocktail bar in Brooklyn. Brought to you by Hungry Ghost owner Murat Uyaroglu and just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Barclays Center (literally a three-minute trek), it’s one of the best cocktail bars in Prospect Heights.

Under the tutelage of master mixologist Bruno Dias, Sweet Polly’s cocktails are the crème de la crème. If you’re doing business along the B line, definitely stop by for some post-work pleasures. Our favorite is the F’Lip Seymour Hoffman, an homage to the late great actor comprised of apple and Spanish brandy, oloroso sherry, orgeat, maple, Angostura bitters, and a whole egg – worthy of an Oscar all its own. Their Ginger Gold Rush is also among the most popular drinks on their current menu.

Sweet Polly’s cocktail game is on point, but seriously, this is that spot if you like your adult beverages with a side of seafood, charcuterie, and/or small bites

However, it doesn’t matter what you get; impeccable bartenders in fitted vests will mix whatever strikes your fancy in perfect style. Keep an eye out for seasonal updates as well – all the more reason to make Sweet Polly part of your repertoire.

Their happy hour is in full effect weekdays from 4 to 6 p.m. Come hungry, because you’re gonna wanna get your app on. They have oysters and a bunch of other tasty vittles on the menu. On the weekends, they open at 1 p.m. – well-timed if you’re on the hunt for a delicious boozy late brunch.

Obviously, Sweet Polly’s cocktail game is on point, but seriously, this is that spot if you like your adult beverages with a side of seafood, charcuterie, and/or small bites. They also have a pleasing selection of old world and California wines, New York beers, and snazzy sodas for those firmly in the anti-craft-cocktail camp (who even are you??).

At its best, Sweet Polly makes for a seductive date spot. Not only are they open late, they nail the romantic European ambiance, no passport required.

It exudes Parisian sensibilities; local artists’ work adorns the walls, in addition to framed replicas of masterpieces like “The Garden of Earthly Delights” by Hieronymus Bosch and “Lady of Castile” by José Puyet. You’ll get your mid-century modern Mad Men fix with Sweet Polly’s angled mirrors, marble bar, golden accents, and gilded tin ceiling, which provide a sophisticated inviting space to unwind. Perhaps make out with your mademoiselle under the lush garden wall. When you start in such a sexy locale, who knows where the night will take you?

No matter the occasion, Sweet Polly has the type of upscale yet unintimidating atmosphere that reflects well when you’re charged with picking the spot. Even better, the prices aren’t too steep. This elegant Park-Slope-adjacent tavern offers the ideal mix of swank and affordability if you’re looking to close a deal on a prospective client, fly solo for a few mixtures, or wine and dine the apple of your eye.
